Welcome to the Crease Street Garden
Our mission is to maintain and preserve the Crease Street Garden as an ornamental garden for the enjoyment and refreshment of the local community.
We did it! Our beloved little Garden is now PERMANENT urban green space. A place for rest, a place to breathe, a place to gather and grow community!
On December 22, 2022 the Neighborhood Gardens Trust, a recognized leader in urban land preservation, became the owner of record of The Crease Street Garden. The Board of the Friends of Crease Street Garden will continue to manage day to day maintenance of garden and engage the community in issues of programming, design and general use.
A big THANK YOU to all that helped to make this happen. We started in the middle of the pandemic with neighbors purchasing commemorative bricks and making donations from small to large. The Fishtown Neighborhood Association was instrumental in helping us spread the word to the larger community. A significant challenge grant from the Penn Treaty Special Services District helped us to further build momentum, and the Joseph Robert Foundation added a major contribution. Finally, City Council President Darell Clarke, along with our state representatives Nikil Saval and Mary Isaacson worked to secure the remaining funds from Pennsylvania’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.
Stay tuned for an announcement about our commemorative brick installation and celebration in the spring. This deserves a party!
